The Sonoma County Planning Commission approved the Local Coastal Plan (LCP) at their recent meeting (6/29/22).
The LCP was forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final review and approval. After BoS approval the LCP is sent to the CA Coastal Commission for certification. It is final after CCC approval.
The county obtains its authority to regulate Coastal Zone VRs through the LCP and the Coastal Commission’s approvals for its plans (e.g., licensing, limits on occupancy or parking).
COUNTY PROPOSALS TO LIMIT VACATION RENTALS DO NOT APPLY IN THE COASTAL ZONE.
The county entered an emergency prohibition on new VRs in the unincorporated county area. This VR limit does NOT apply in the county Coastal Zone.
