| Hello, Permit Sonoma is notifying the public of a proposed amendment to Chapter 26C of the Sonoma County Municipal Code to enact vacation rental regulations in the Coastal Zone. The purpose of this Ordinance is to add a land use permit requirement to ensure vacation rentals operate in a manner that maintains the public health, safety, and welfare of each community and the county as a whole. The proposed amendment would align vacation rental regulations in the Coastal Zone with inland regulations. If passed by the Board of Supervisors, Vacation Rentals in the Coastal Zone would be required to get a permit and business license to legally operate a vacation rental property in Sonoma County’s Coastal Zone. If passed, any vacation rental in the Coastal Zone that has been legally operating prior to the effective date of the Ordinance would have one year from the effective date to obtain a vacation rental license. You can read the draft amendment and learn more on our Vacation Rental Ordinance Update page.If you have comments or questions, please contact the Project Planner Doug Bush at 707-565-5276 or at Doug.Bush@sonoma-county.org. Sincerely,The Permit Sonoma Vacation Rental Team |
